Building Blocks...
Diane Nelles is a representational watercolour artist.
Working exclusively on Arches 300 pound cold press watercolour paper, Diane uses glazing and layering techniques to create realistic yet atmospheric representations. Working in transparent layers, Diane uses several techniques to create her artwork. Wet-in-wet, dry brush, splattering and sponging all assist in creating the textured details that make her artwork come to life.
As a lover of nature and her surroundings, growing up in northern Ontario, landscapes have become Diane's focus. In addition to landscapes, she also likes to explore the effects of weather on architecture, around Lambton County in southern Ontario, or during her travels. Attracted by settings created by nature's elements - sun, wind, water, ice and snow, Diane composes the scenes of her choice, layer by layer, using the elements of design - line, space, shape, colour, texture and form.
Taking inspiration from Northern Ontario, Lambton County and her latest passion, travel, Diane continues to experiment with the elements, both natural and artistic.
